At the beginning of every school year 4-H and FFA clubs start their new year and the kids start their projects. The projects range from but not limited to showing animals, horticulture, photography, cooking, shooting sports and even shop projects. Since we are now empty nesters and we still have the dairy goats, we sponsor a hand full of kids with our goats. The goats help kids learn responsibility. Having the goats and breeding them takes a lot of close attention. The kids learn to have patience with the animals, monitor feed, watch the goats health during pregnancy, help take care of newborn kids and of course washing and bathing But the whole year these kids have these wonderful goats, they also get to show them in the ring, that is where the kids really have fun! So once the stock show season comes to an end, the goats return back to our farm.
Now, my husband is still an active member with our local 4-H club and is a shooting sports coach for the club. The local 4-H club that he helps coach is the one I was in back in my High School days and even our kiddo was in the same one throughout High School. She also did the shooting sports in our 4- club and even went to Nationals representing Texas her senior year, and she is on the pistol team at TAMU! So my husband along with the other coach are very passionate about shooting sports and helping kids excel at their talents.
Needless to say, we love being active in the community and seeing kids succeed.
When our kiddo was in these 2 clubs we had a lot of support from sponsors, family and friends & now we have a chance to give back!
